Enjoy the sweet, liltingly melodic sounds of New Orleans jazz with the Sarah Fenwick Trio featuring saxophonist Ziggy Irzenski and guitarist Ramzi Mikhail. Ziggy has performed around Europe and the Middle East, and has worked with Sarah Fenwick for 25 years, including concerts in Israel and Kuwait. Guitarist Ramzi Mikhail makes sublime music and is a fine performer with an old-world feel to his playing. Elegant precision combined with a sweet sound take the listener back to the Swing era of the 1940’s. He studied Guitar at the Conservatoire Nationale du Liban with Prof. Josef Ichkhanian and has taught in Lebanon and Cyprus since the 1980’s.
Nicknamed ‘Lady Jazz’, singer Sarah Fenwick has recorded four CDs; Jazz Attack, Love Life, Jazz Way and Jazz Origins. She is recognised as one of the leading improvisational jazz singers on the island as well as being one of the island’s original voices of the genre. Her career stretches back to 1992 when she started to sing professionally in Nicosia. Since then she has worked with most of the top musicians in Cyprus and many from abroad such as Scottish guitarist Jim Mullen and Welsh pianist Gareth Williams. In 2012 she formed one of the greatest duets in Cyprus jazz history with brilliant guitarist Marinos Neofytou. Passion, improvisation and an ability to join ensembles from duets to sextets and big bands characterise her approach to jazz performance.
